Our Background

The Woods is a 10 acre plot of land located about 6 miles outside of Bolivar Missouri in a wooded area. It features a house turned to a lodge, a bus turned to a sleeping room, multiple fire pits, a lighted pathway, and plenty of nature. This retreat center was created with recycled materials collected from many places and reflecting the passions of creator Dianne Ries. When Dianne obtained the land, it was filled with trash, the house was in need of repairs, and the place had been known for decades by many of the locals to be a drug home. It was a lair of pain, despair, apathy, and disrespect for nature and humanity. Dianne and her faithful helpers cleaned, worked and repaired the area to create a refuge for nature, a place of healing for people, and a place of connection for groups. The Woods reflects Dianne's love of nature, passion for healing, and strong spiritual beliefs in the power of the living world. She encourages others to come and be a part of the restoration of self and land, join in ceremony, ritual, learning, sharing, and holding space.
